羅伯．丹屯（Robert Darnton）是普林斯頓大學的歷史教授，也是麥克阿瑟獎（MacArthur Prize）的評議委員。他的The Literary Underground of the Old Regime於1983年獲美國書卷獎（American Book Award）提名。他的著作另還包括The Corpus of Clandestine Literature in France 1769-1789、The Kiss of Lamourette、The Forbidden Best-Sellers of Pre-Revolutionary France和最近出版的What Was Revolutionary About the French revolutaion。
