Who is the boss ? /

PreSchool-Grade 2-- Two small, seaborne men argue about their superiority and try to outdo one another's feats. Unfortunately, they are so busy impressing each other that their boat crashes into a rock and sinks. Then a quiet duck--the only other passenger--bears away the two loudmouths in a wordless demonstration of its own power. The well-designed layout seems wasted on the unattractive men--Fisher-Price clones without faces. The examples of one-upmanship, such as the possession of fine manners or being ``exceptionally gifted'' seem aimed more at adults than children. The heavy moral could have sunk the boat even without the collision. --Kathy Piehl, Mankato State University, MNCopyright 1992 Reed Business Information, Inc.
