Barkley (psychiatry, State U. of New York Upstate Medical U., Syracuse) has invited back contributors to the 1998 handbook to update their treatment of all aspects of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This edition include a new chapter on combined therapies and chapter key clinical points. The editor presents the history of this diagnosis--including controversies over its nature and treatment, the International Consensus Statement on ADHD, and a theory of its cause. In 20 other chapters, the North American authors discuss such clinical issues as associated health problems, diagnostic and treatment options for children and adults.
