This text provides national standards of basic competency for adapted physical education. The book presents 15 broad standards based on roles, responsibilities and perceived professional needs of practising adapted physical educators, clearly defining what is required of a qualified educator. Each standard is broken down into five levels which were subjected to rigorous review by several committees. The book should be useful for any professional who works with children with disabilites in the physical education setting, and also for readers preparing for the NCPERID adapted physical education certification examination.
