Scenes of Madness looks at the playwrights' accounts of the madness afflicting such diverse characters as Oedipus, King Lear, Dr. Faustus, and Torquato Tasso. Derek Russell Davis concludes that those working in the mental health field can learn much from these accounts about the psychological processes in the development of mental illness, about its recovery, and about effects of intervention.
