This book presents 40 innovative architectural designs that aim for sustainability and adaptability in a fast-changing world. They feature designs from all over the world. Organized into five sections, the first features rapid shelters that would especially be suitable for emergency situations. The second considers transitional structures that can house a family while they rebuild. The third section on affordable housing considers permanent structures for low-income individuals that encourage efficient and sustainable living. The fourth section offers designs of pre-fabricated homes and the last section presents permanent resident designs that are made explicitly for weathering climate change. Each design is presented in several pages of text describing its features and inspiration, including a standard set of statistics about cost and space and materials on the first page, as well as numerous photographs and layout graphics. Each section is introduced by Meinhold, the freelance writer editing the book, who explains the decisions behind the criteria that each of the designs have.
