This book will provide trainee teachers with an awareness of what creativity in themselves and their pupils. It has two goals: to describe creativity and to inform trainees of its theoretical background; and to demonstrate how these ideas might be put into practice in the classroom. With contributions from leading experts in their fields, the book deals not only with subjects which might be deemed traditionally creative or expressive, such as music and drama, but also explores creative approaches across a range of curricular areas, making links between them where appropriate. Trainees are provided with clear guidelines for fulfilling the National Curriculum in each subject area while promoting innovative approaches in the classroom. The book encourages active engagement with the content by the use of research summaries, examples and case studies, activities for students, reflection points, and annotated lists of further reading.
