This book explores the experiences of becoming and continuing to develop as a qualitative researcher. It grows out of the very research process it explains, exemplifies and provides guidance for. Specifically, it integrates a focus on understanding both the cognitive processes involved in engaging the methods of qualitative research and the affective "feel" engendered by these same procedures; entering, observing, interviewing, analyzing, reporting and reflecting. The premise is that this cognitive/affective mesh is an essential qualitative research reality and, as such, must be highlighted, better understood and harnessed. This work is intended for those who are first learning about qualitative research as well as those who are more advanced and who may be teaching about it.
