Designed as a replacement for Geography and Resource Analysis, this new text continues to provide and assess concepts, strategies and methods on updated, innovative ways to deal with environmental and resource management. It relates to four fundamental themes: change; complexity; uncertainty and conflict. Attention is given to the role of sustainable development providing a vision for management, using the ecosystem as a means to achieve this vision. Resource and Environmental Management uses various approaches to address uncertainty and surprise. At the same time as dealing with innovative ways to deal with environmental and resource management, the text encourages rigorous economic development but respects differing cultural values.
